Thomas Brennan is the founder and editor-at-large of The War Horse, an award-winning nonprofit newsroom dedicated to educating the public on military service and war, and its impact on those who serve. The War Horse's reporting has led to changes in military and federal law and has given voice to thousands of survivors of sexual violence.  

Brennan's passion is writing about war, trauma, and loss. Prior to studying at Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism, he was a sergeant in the Marine Corps and served as an infantryman in Iraq and Afghanistan with the First Battalion, Eighth Marines. Brennan is the co-author of Shooting Ghosts—A U.S. Marine, a Combat Photographer, and Their Journey Back from War. His reporting has appeared in Vanity Fair, Center for Investigative Reporting, and on the front page of The New York Times.
