Shannon Dooling

Shannon Dooling is an immigration reporter at WBUR, Boston’s NPR news station. Her work can be heard and seen on NPR, WBUR, Here & Now, Market Place, and on public radio stations across New England.
She joined WBUR in 2013 as the field producer for WBUR's Morning Edition. During that time, she co-reported and produced a series in El Salvador, investigating the violent forces motivating migration to the United States and also produced the award-winning series of reports with Morning Edition's Bob Oakes from Vietnam, on the 40th anniversary of the fall of Saigon.
Dooling traveled to Texas in 2018 to cover the family separation crisis at the U.S.-Mexico border and also returned to Central America. While there, she met families waiting to be reunited with their children, visited communities controlled by gangs and brought back stories that connect families from Honduras and El Salvador with communities in Boston.
